Ian Johnson FSyI (Principal Consultant)
As Group Managing Director of the IJA Group of companies, and Principal Consultant of Ian Johnson Associates (IJA), Ian has worked extensively in both the public and private sectors. Following a successful career in military security and defence intelligence, he has been instrumental in building up the portfolio of clients that the company has today. He has been an advisor on security matters to a number of government departments and committees, as well as leading political parties and the Boards of FTSE 500 companies.

Widely recognised as an authority on security and crime prevention and an accredited Law Society expert witness and United Kingdom Accreditation Service technical expert, Ian is also a regular contributor to television and radio programmes, conferences and publications.

Ian is a Fellow of The Security Institute and member of its General Council.

John Julian CPP (Senior Consultant)
John Julian, IJA’s senior consultant, has been working in the security field for forty years, starting with a career in military intelligence where he served throughout the world. He subsequently became security and investigations manager for a major global retail organisation, where he gained considerable experience in developing security policies, risk management, IT security, fraud detection and prevention, as well as loss investigation. John has also worked as lead consultant for Group 4, undertaking consultancy and training projects for Governments and commercial organisations worldwide.

Recently John has been a member of The Security Institute working party that produced the best practice guide for the procurement and management of manned security services. He is the UK tutorial representative for ASIS International (the leading US Security organisation) in preparing students undertaking the internationally recognised security professional qualification, the Certified Protection Practitioner (CPP).
