IJA recently completed a major review of security strategy and policy for a major Utility provider.
Commenting on the review, the Director for Security Health and Safety said we urgently needed to assess business strategy with respect to current company obligations and recent changes in regulation. IJA's level of experience and knowledge about the industry certainly helped focus our views on where we need to focus first and provided us with a comprehensive and commercially viable action plan as how to take our objectives forward.”
The four month review included an overall capability assessment of corporate security and business strategy including management organization structure and processes, policies and supporting standards, staff / resource capabilities and auditing structures, as well as reviewing security related risk at the operational level. This included test inspections of sample sites to assess effectiveness of designed measures and activities as appropriate to each tested site and compared to identified risk.
To assist the Organization in terms of focus of priorities identified, a gap analysis with respect to current organizational structure and security strategy requirements was drafted for the Board’s consideration together with an implementation plan detailing timetable of proposed recommendations delivered. This was supported by the creation of a corporate security balanced scorecard to assist in the ongoing monitoring and assessment of business security function.
